چکیده
Abstract We encountered a case of diffuse thyroid swelling after fine needle aspiration (dTSaFNA) cytology, and monitored the by ultrasonography. The scan findings are reported. A 57-year-old female visited our hospital complaining in her anterior neck. She had history metal allergy was not taking any medications. Because solid cystic tumor detected left lobe, we decided to perform fine-needle cytology (FNAC). When second performed with 22G inserted into nodule patient immediately complained pain Within 2 minutes, neck swelled up ultrasonography showed vascular dilatation lobe. Neck cooling steroid injection undertaken. However, over next 5 also spread right About 15 minutes later, vessels gradually became unclear, persisted, hospitalized for observation. By following day, all symptoms signs resolved discharged. FNA is associated risk caused hemorrhage or dTSaFNA. To make prompt diagnosis provide appropriate treatment this complication, could be useful.

Background and Objectives: Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is an established out- patient procedure used in primary diagnosis of palpable thyroid lesions. A modified technique fine needle capillary sampling (FNCS) obviates the need of suction, is less painful, patient friendly and reported to overcome the problem of inadequate and bloody specimens. The aim of our study was to compare the...

متن کاملComparison on Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) and Thyroid Ultrasonography in Management of Thyroid Nodules
A nodular thyroid gland is a common occurrence, especially among females; although chances of these lesions being malignant are rare [1]. In Sri Lanka, thyroid cancer is one of the five leading sites of cancer in females, and has a life time risk of 0.357% for both males and females [2].
